OSTEOPATHY

Osteopathy is a system of assesment, diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.

Our Team of Osteopaths are qualified to treat people of all ages, including babies.

We are registered providers of most health insurances such as Bupa, AXA/PPP, Simply Health, Aviva, WPA, Vitality and more

Osteopaths use touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage, to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms.

Osteopaths also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.

CRANIAL OSTEOPATHY

Cranial Osteopathy is a subtle and refined approach to osteopathy. It is used throughout the body not just the head.

Our Cranial Osteopaths use a highly trained sense of touch to feel the subtle changes of tension and tissue quality in the living anatomy of the whole body and to diagnose areas of strain or dysfunction.

Cranial Osteopathy is a gentle, safe and effective approach to treatment of a wide range of problems in the whole body.

Cranial Osteopathy is widely known for the treatment of babies and is equally effective for children and adults.

OSTEOPATHY FOR BABIES AND CHILDREN

Our team of Osteopaths are qualified to treat people of all ages, including babies, children and teens.

Osteopaths utilise a range of techniques including physical manipulation, stretching and massage, and other gentle techniques such as Cranial.

Cranial techniques are safe, gentle, and non-manipulative. They are often used when treating young children and new born infants.

Gentle osteopathic techniques can help to release and balance areas of physical tension, helping to soothe and relax as well as promoting better movement where the muscles have been tight.

Depending on the issue, we may suggest exercises to practice at home in addition to returning for follow-up treatments. We’ll always refer to your GP if we feel that’s a more appropriate course of action.

Our team of Osteopaths also help teens, and we may see teens with sports injuries, pain caused by poor posture, seeking help with the physical and mental challenges of being a teen, and the inability to relax caused by the stress of exams or the pressures of social media, etc. Some of our teens have been coming to the clinic since they were younger children, while others may be completely new to osteopathy. We give our teens the time they need to discuss their issues and listen with sensitivity and calm,

ANIMAL OSTEOPATHY

Our team of Osteopaths most commonly treat horses, dogs and cats. They also occasionally treat other household pets and farmyard animals. All animal osteopaths are fully qualified human osteopaths and have undertaken specialist post-graduate training in animal osteopathy.

Equine and Canine Osteopathy is a branch of animal osteopathy which is concerned with treating horses and dogs. It is an established, recognised system of treatment that uses physical techniques to remove tension and restrictions in the horses and dogs musculo-skeletal systems.

Osteopathy works on many different levels working on the joints and muscles to improve blood flow and regulating nerve supply with the aim of rebalancing the body’s structures. This aids the animals’ function by relieving pain, preventing injury and maximising movement and performance.

We commonly help to relieve a wide range of symptoms such as age associated stiffness, conformation related problems, canine sports performance issues and minor canine musculoskeletal injuries.

Osteopathy uses the application of joint articulation and gentle soft tissue techniques to your dog to release tight and irritated muscles, tendons and ligaments with the aim of relaxing them and reducing irritation in surrounding tissues. This treatment is intended to then result in a reduction of your dog’s pain symptoms and thereby increase their range of movement.

Any animal’s owner must always consult their veterinary surgeon prior to seeking osteopathic treatment.

Most vets are, however, aware of the benefits of complementary treatment for animals and will readily give their permission for the animal to be treated.
